Principles of Educational Technology Leadership
EDTC 802, Principles of Educational Technology Leadership (3 credits): The course focuses on concepts and strategies necessary for a leader in a technologically rich learning environment. Topics include strategic planning, leadership styles, institutional change processes, and policy issues in educational technology.
Transformational Leadership: During Summer Institute 2015, the class was assigned a group project on one leadership style. My group, James Murduca, Ali Ragoub and I, was assigned transformational leadership. Our group created a handout and also presented the leadership style to the class. I learned that one must learn and understand a topic clearly and fully before a presentation.
High School Robotics Club: For the technology use proposal, I developed a proposal for a high school robotics club. The Summer Institute 2015 exposed me to the wonderful world of robotics. I wish I lived closer to campus to learn more about the field.
Importance of Integrating Digital Media: For the research paper, students were assigned to complete a literature review on a selected technology, issue or trend in educational technology. My paper focused on the importance of integrating digital media in higher education. Implementing Web 2.0 tools and multimedia in the classroom will increase engagement which will turn into completion which is key in higher education.
